Wind storm dangers and service delays

Hi UBC/UEL residents,

Please be careful in and around Pacific Spirit Regional Park, especially on/near University and Chancellor Boulevards. There are a number of trees down as a result of Saturday’s windstorm, and more strong winds are expected for the coming days.

In addition, the windstorm has resulted in service changes for TransLink buses to/from UBC. Please see the announcement from TransLink below:

Due to fallen trees from yesterday’s windstorm, University Blvd from Blanca Street to Wesbrook Mall is closed to all traffic.

Please be advised that bus service on routes 004, 014, 099 will be diverted from University Blvd through W 16th Ave with traditional buses.

Our crews are working hard to restore service as they wait for the City of Vancouver to clear the large number of fallen trees. We have been advised, this could take several days, until regular access is opened to traffic on this route.

There are signs at the impacted bus stops along University Blvd to inform customers of the alternate routes and transit supervisors are on the ground helping redirect customers. Riders seeking alternative routes are encouraged to consult our Trip Planner online or contact our customer information desk (604-953-3333) for trip planning advice.
